MEALS AND NUTRITION
Nutrition and meal times are important in any nursery setting as they provide a framework over which to structure the day. At Linden Tree our meal times are utilised as an essential learning and development time.
As a childcare provider we do our best to provide a wonderful environment for children, by having a lovely setting, an exciting curriculum, friendly happy staff and good hearty food. During a recent review of our food policy, as a team we decided we could do more to provide a nutritious diet for your children throughout the day.
We offer the following options:
Bottle fed:
For children who are still on formula or their mother’s milk. You are asked to provide a supply of your preferred baby milk or expressed milk. You may want to bring your own bottles – however these can be provided for your child in the nursery. Arrangements will be discussed during Settling in Sessions.
Weaning:
We start with fruit and vegetable purees, then when ready, move on to meat and vegetable puree and eventually mushed main meals.
Solids:
Most children follow the weekly nursery menu. We also accommodate all dietary requirements including no dairy, no gluten and vegetarian. Details can be discussed during your Settling in Session and as your child grows.
Snacks:
We would much rather provide fresh vegetables and fruit than carbohydrates. Some examples of what children have the choice of are apples, pears, melons, bananas, celery, carrots and peppers.
All of our nursery schools are catered for lunch and tea through fresh, daily deliveries from Zebedees.
The food is locally sourced and adhered to all current food intake guidelines for children aged from 0-5 years.
